Location: Salt Spring Island, BC
A cluster of lightweight buildngs made of wood and canvas sit on the edge of a medow. The buildngs are placed carefully – resting on stilts, to let the landscape remain strong and to capture the sun’s warmth. The surrounding topography shelters the site from prevailing winds.
The visitors are there to be outside, to connect to nature. Carefully placed windows frame views to the surrounding landscape. A wood stove burns when the temperture drops.
The canvas tent becomes a lantern at night, spilling a soft light onto the surrounding landscape. Eventually a footpath will connect to a house that is a short walk away.
